The best thing about the children's dance classes at the Lifetime Performing Arts Academy in Aliso Viejo are the quarterly shows. It makes it so much more fun for the kids, especially at a young age, when they can show off the fruits of their labor as often as possible. It seems to me (and I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination) that performing in front of an audience - if they want to - is great for a child's confidence and self esteem. And I suspect if I had waited to introduce my daughter to the stage, she might not ever do it. So far she's extremely enthusiastic about it and has no problem performing on stage in front of others.
Since the shows here are every quarter it really helps to keep them focused and enthusiastic. And the classes are very small. While I don't feel that ballet is her future, I think it is laying a good foundation to other performing arts. Although it could be. We'll just have to see where it leads. But transitioning into other dance, voice, or theatre classes is easy at the Lifetime Performing Arts Academy.
The current dance class she is in is beginning ballet and tap. Last quarter's show was a tap dance and the one before was a ballet. Check out the video clip below (click on the play button bottom left in the video screen) to get a sense of the performance.
(video clip coming soon.....)
I'm no expert, but if ballet dance is all you care about, then I would suggest another ballet school. However, if you just want to help your child channel their enthusiasm for the performing arts, then Lifetime Performing Arts Academy might be a good choice for you.
