I love this place! We really enjoyed the Variety show and Italian dinner night. I wish they did that more often.

Do your kids love to sing and dance? Are they interested in learning how to play an instrument or do they memorize the lines of every movie they watch? I know my child does. She's constantly reenacting her movie videos. And what small child doesn't love to sing?
Well that Lifetime music academy in Aliso Viejo was created to fill a void in traditional educational programs. That of performing arts. Anyone from toddlers to adults can take lessons in:
* Music
* Dance
* Theatre
* Voice
There's a couple of programs that really stand out to me. The first is the theartre programs that they have every trimester for ages 5 and up. They have a broadway jr.musical theatre program, an improve/song and dance musical theatre program, and a storybook musical theatre program. Although they have open auditions, it's mainly just to see where each child is at. Their philosophy is everyone gets a part.
They don't just learn their parts, songs or dance steps. They're exposed to the whole process and gain experience in costuming, stage makeup, theatre ettiquete, character development and more.
At the end of the trimester, a full production is performed on stage in front of all the parents and more on their onsite stage. If you have kids that love to be on stage, this is a great program to help encourage and nurture that little actor, singer or dancer in them.
The second program that stood out is their band program. This is great for older kids. They can join a band in a structured environment that helps them hone their skills, socialize with peers, and recieve guidance from an instructon on choosing the right music and how to sound like a professional band.
The also have the choice of performing at a recitial at the end of the trimester or recording the music they've been working on.
Of course music instruction is the core offering at the academy, so you'll find many classes (private and group) for learning differeint instruments for all ages. Voice and dance classes round out their offerings.
Summer camps:
If you're not sure about the trimester programs, you can enroll your kids in one of their many 1 week, all day summer camp programs. It's a great way for the kids to immerse themselves in a specific arts program and find out if it's something they really want to spend more time doing.

28May07I believe they changed their name from Lifetime Music Academy to Lifetime Performing Arts Academy.
