Let your kids enjoy nature at Orange County's little island of wilderness - Laguna Coast Wilderness Park - at their camp sage Summer Camp for kids. My daughter did the Junior Ranger program at this wilderness jewel behind Laguna Beach last year and loved it. There are so many fun plants and insects/critters to learn about. Great for 7 year old kids to ten year old kids.
The willow staging area has a little private nature center where they can see some stuffed animals and some live snakes in cages. It also has plenty of picnic tables and shade. The best hike also starts from there - Laural Canyon hike. It is a mostly flat, very pretty hike. If you continue walking up the hill along the creek, you will find fossils. Hopefully one of these days I will get pictures/video up of the hike and plants.
