Prehistoric Pets Birthday Party for Kids

30Mar07 | 0 comments

Wow! The kids won't stop talking about this party. We went to a birthday party for two little six year old boys and it was a ton of fun for the little ones. First they got to feed animals, mainly turtles, some really squirmy caterpillar like bugs with long tweezers. Turtles weren't the only hungry creatures in the giant pond in the store. Huge catfish were also biting.

Keep a good hand on the worm cup because it is easy to drop those squirmy worms. You pick them up with super long tweezers and then hold them near the water's edge. It doesn't take long for a turtle or fish to snag one.

After about 30 minutes or so of feeding, the reptile show began. The have enough seating for about 35 kids and also have a smaller party room. The kids got to learn about alot of different reptiles. We got to see and touch frogs, monitors, chameleons, pythons, corn snakes boas, albino boas, and other reptiles. These birthday parties are educational, hands on and interactive.

One of my favorites was the African Pixie Frog. You can check it out in the video below (just click the play button on the bottom left of the video).

What a cool looking frog! One of the kids was called up and asked to close his eyes. She then put the huge frog in his hands. I can only imagine what he was thinking when she did that.

Then there was the huge monitor lizard. While not as big as Komodo Dragons, it wasn't poisoness either. It's long blue tongue was moving constantly. The kids really enjoyed getting up close and touching it.

They call their birthday parties "Jurrassic Parties" and the grand finale is always the best. That's when all the kids stand together and get to hold a boa for pictures. Just one of the reasons you'll want to make sure you bring your camera and your video camera.

After the show, you can wash your hands and then join everyone for some food/cake that you supply in your party room. Pizza is a great option. But, we didn't have much time to eat. Whether we spent too much time feeding the turtles or the show went long or both, I don't know.

But we were rushed out of the room while eating the cake. You only get 2 hours for the party.

But do stay and tour this fun kids store centrally located in Orange County California, not far from the 405 in Huntington Beach. There are tons of snakes and reptiles on display all in a zoo like setting. You can surely spend another hour there going through the store and watching these amazing reptiles.

I know they also do in home birthday parties and school events. The school event is where my daughter first encountered them and was one of the few kids that wanted to touch them there. So those are other options to experience the wonderful world of reptiles that both small kids and big ones would love.
